Guitar Harmonization

Here’s the thing; you just don’t belch out any guitar solo out of the blue. You have to think it over and over until you finally come up with something epic. Not any guitar solo would do, matter of fact. Although, not every legendary guitar solo wasn’t thought about like how I said you world, however, they have the skills and the common sense of a guitar expert. That is why they could come up with epic guitar solos like the ones that you hear on Guns N Roses’ November Rain. Now, if you are asking me that is what I call epic.

Guitar Harmonization – the technique

You know what you could do to make your solos epic? Guitar techniques. All you have to do is to spice up your existing solos in mind and to do that; you should learn the different guitar techniques known to mankind. Luckily, I have something to teach you, it’s called “Guitar Harmonization”. It is a guitar technique used to spice up that old and boring guitar solos that you probably cooked up while you was in the bathroom and is worth nothing and wouldn’t be listened to even by a 2 year old.

Guitar Harmonization – how to do it?

The concept is to play a lick, it doesn’t matter what scale you would use as long as you remember the notes. Okay, back to the harmonization concept. It is done by playing a lick or a melody then you add a note above it that is usually a diatonic third. Either you make a loop or you play both the notes at the same time or you have another guitar player play the diatonic notes. That is basically the concept of harmonization.

Here is the Tablature

E –8–7–5—————————————–

B ———–5–6–5——————————–

G ————————————————–

D ————————————————–

A ————————————————–

E ————————————————–

A third above this would be:

E –12–10–8—————————————

B ————-8–10–8—————————–

G ————————————————–

D ————————————————–

A ————————————————–

E ————————————————–

and that is guitar harmonization.

Guitar Accessories

Knowing the right type of accessories for your guitar is also an essential part of guitar playing. You must know whether the accessory is needed or required or if it s is already overkill. Besides, if you are a regular kid with regular budget, you can’t buy all of it. However, it would be nice to know the different accessories available and know its functions. These accessories are made to improve or make your guitar playing a lot more comfortable and much easier. So sit back and relax while I show you the different stuff that available in the market right now.

Guitar Accessories – The Basics

These are the basic accessories which you would definitely need:

  1. Gig bag – this is also called the guitar case. It protects your guitar from bumps and scratches when you go mobile. Also it gives you a place to place your guitar.
  2. Tuner – a device used to tune the guitar. Ensures you great sounding guitar all the time if you have it without. Place it on your gig bag always.
  3. Guitar Strings – it’s more like a requirement. However, brining extra strings could save you from trouble, trust me.
  4. Picks – gives you comfortable rhythm guitar sessions.

Guitar Accessories – conclusion

These are the basic accessories that you could score out of the music store. There are still a lot more, and it would take some time if I am going to mention them all and define their functions. However, you could do this little research thing for me. Go to the nearest music store and ask the people there for the available accessories. If you are lucky, they would give you a list of useful accessories form different brands with different prices. That would be a treat. Be sure to pick up only the guitar accessories that are needed.

John Mayer   no comments

John Mayer is a great guitar player. Matter of fact, he could be called as one of the legends now. However, many people don’t like him because of the fact that he’s mainstream and he plays pop music. That is very much understandable. If John Mayer didn’t play pop music, he’ll end up like one of the millions of good blues guitar players and singers, on the side, lurking without attention; no one knows them until they die. Not getting the acknowledgment and the exposure they deserve. Good thing he was smart enough to ride the mainstream wave and by doing so, he has released the blues and spoon fed it to mainstream listeners. Now these mainstream people know and realize that blues is one of those real music. He has kept the blues alive.

So haters, don’t judge him if he’s mainstream. Let us celebrate him as it is, he’s just as good as any other blues guitar players and he deserves recognition. You can gladly say that he’s an SRV rip – off or a Hendrix rip –off, that’s all good when in fact; he is the product of these musicians. If not for them, there would be no John Mayer at all.
