Beginner’s Guide to Guitar Effects   no comments

Posted at 4:34 am in Learn To Play Guitar

A guitar sounds good on itself. Certain guitars have distinct tones that are great to listen at, but to add more color or more diversity to your regular guitar tone; you should use a guitar effect. Guitar effects are the ones responsible for the distorted or overdriven sounds or other modulations. Now, which effects should you pick? There are multi effects processors, hundreds of them; actually, that already has all the basic effects in one gadget. This is a good catch, matter of fact, but it is always better to learn the basic about these guitar effects. Personally, I prefer the individual ones.

Before you go out and buy your effects, you should first take time and think about these things. There are a few things to consider before you grab your effects and here it goes:

  1. Have the effects demoed first before you buy it. Trust what your ears are hearing and pick up one that you think is good for you.
  2. Check the knobs; make sure that there are changes when you turn them. No changes mean it’s broken.
  3. Do not fill your rig with loads of pedals, do not overload it. Use only the things that you need.
  4. The order of the chain of effects has a certain effect to the sound. Research for the best order.
  5. Check your amp first, you might have everything you need in it, but I prefer the pedals.

Basically, these are the things you should consider first before going out and grabbing that effects pedal you always long for.

Buying Your First Electric Guitar   no comments

Posted at 1:31 pm in Learn To Play Guitar

Purchasing your own electric guitar is your on giant step into the crazy (in a good way) world of guitar playing. Before actually buying it, you need to consider lots of things. Electric guitar is a more popular choice compared to acoustic guitars for new guitar players. Knowing which equipment you will need, which is too much, comparisons of prices and brands, and dealing with other technical alien stuff and specs can be pretty frustrating. Matter of fact, it is true with budding guitarists or people who is just trying to look for something to give their musician friends.

Buying your first guitar shouldn’t be a hard experience. Matter of fact, many guitar pros, when they reminisce the moment they bought their first guitar, they remember it as one of the most fun days of their lives. Well, this should be the right thing and you should also enjoy choosing your first axe. A little bit of research won’t hurt. Try look up for the brands and the specifications of the guitar that would suit you or better yet, consult a professional guitar player on his preferences. Make this moment memorable and buy a guitar that you would treasure forever. Isn’t it nice to look back in a corner of your room and find that guitar you first fell in love with and where you learn it all? Nostalgic, indeed.
