Let me share to you a little something about the history of rock and roll. Yes, rock and roll has a history. This musical art form dates way back into the 50’s era. The term rock and roll itself was first used by an American Disc Jockey named Alan Freed. Originally, rock and roll is the term used for black upbeat blues music, originated by black Americans. The term was taken from the song “My baby Rocks Me with a Steady Roll.” The term literally means sexual intercourse and is always present on lyrics of blues music.  The term was used to include white people since rock and roll music was dominated by black Americans.

Freed started a radio program called Moondog Rock and Roll Party that played black rock and roll music to white people. He was so passionate about black music, eventually organizing the first rock and roll concert in 1952, showcasing the first rock and roll band, Bill Haley and the Comets. They were also the creators of the first single to top Billboard charts. And there was Elvis Presley, the Beatles and other rock and roll acts. Gradually, the music evolved to what we have now. Thank God for Rock and Roll, our lives will never be the same again.
