The Path of Rock and Roll   no comments

What’s the reason behind people wanting to learn how to play guitar? It is because they want to rock and roll, dude! It’s true that some folks grew up listening to country or bluegrass music and play this genres but the majority of people who wants to learn guitar is heading to the school of rock. That’s right, school of rock.

Eventhough we wanted to rock as much as AC/DC did, we are forced to learn beginner stuff because we are newbies. Songs that has D-A-G-A or G-Em-C-D chord pattern in it. This is the sucky part, but we digest it learn it and eventually mastered this 4 – chord pattern that we abhor. And then later on, as we look on the mirror, we realize and say to ourselves, “this is not what the ROCK GODS told me to do.” This the moment in your sucky, newbie experience where you stand-up and leave the kiddie rhymes behind and walk that path that leads to rock academy.

And so we practice rock guitar riffs, guitar solos and other rock guitar techniques. We now learn how to appreciate Brian May, Eddie Van Halen, Jimmy Page and the likes. We now head to the holy grail of rock and roll, the guitar store and check the new gadgets and amps that would make our rock guitar playing even more ROCK-tastic. And so we never stop practicing. Practicing licks, riffs and memorizing solos. It’s a creed, an objective. We won’t stop until we get there.
