7 String Guitar no comments
What is a seven string guitar? It is of course a guitar with seven strings! (What a dumb question to start with) anyway, there is no exact challenge on the 7 guitar that would differ from the 6 strings except of the fact that you have a new low B string on top of your E string. To utilize this, you must have the need to play lower notes, or more specifically, notes lower than the Low E. one good thing about a seven string guitar is you won’t have to deal with the trouble of tuning your guitar down since you have basically all the low tunings you could get under E.(Low Eb, D, C#, C and B) except if you need those open strings on a low tuning, that would be a problem, but basically, a seven string would the low heavy jobs. Now the 7th string is a bit thicker and should be played smartly. Plucking it too hard will make it ring so much and would produce unwanted noise, so you better know how to properly pluck or strum it. The barre chords that you will be using on 7 strings are pretty much the same movable chords on your faithful six string guitar. So after playing F Barre Chord, you can go to the seventh string to find the Low E root and do the Barre Chord shape and make your way down again just in case you need it.
New Genres and their Weapon of Choice no comments
There are lots of new genres today that appeared like mushrooms. Almost all of them are from the ROCK family or genre. Most of them are just combination of two or several genres. Some are cool, some are ridiculous. Let me give you some examples of the new genres that I’m talking about and their Guitar player’s weapon of choice.
Crabcore/Metalcore
Basically, it’s called Metalcore, a new breed of metal heads that focuses on breakdowns. It’s really cool to look at, the synchronized head banging and stuff. Many critics gave raised eyebrows on this but for me, It’s all good. now, the term crabcore, started with the band ATTACK ATTACK! because when they do the metalcore break downs, they have this “crab-like” stance. some liked it, some puked on it. It’s all good as long as were all having fun. The guitar preffered for this genre is one that has double humbucker, can be tuned down low as hell and ideal for the heavy break down. IBANEZ is the name.
Nu Metal
It’s the new brand of bad ass metal ,fusing punk, hardcore, metal, electronica, jazz and hiphop. Talk about mixed genres. Example is Deftones, Faith no MOre, Limp Bizkit and others. Guitar of choice: Anything heavier than the usual heavy. I’m talking about 7 strings and 8 strings tuned down lower than hell. IBANEZ and ESP’s are the weapon of choice here. Perfect for the grind and groove of heaviness.
